THE SHORT VERSION
Twenty years of the same craft, on two very different pieces of ground.
I spent years working gardens across County Wicklow, Ireland — hedging, dry-stone walls, timber structures, planting, done properly and built to last. Ireland is fifty shades of green and rain nine months of the year. Whatever the job, the standard was the same: plan it, build it right, keep it looking finished.
Then I moved to Las Vegas and started Walsh’s Landscaping — same trade, opposite climate. Here it’s 110°F in the shade and a water bill that punishes grass. The materials changed completely: hedges to agave, lawns to gravel and turf, dry-stone to block. What didn’t change is the standard.
I take pride in that part staying constant. Whether it was a hedge in Wicklow or a gravel bed in West Las Vegas, the job gets done right the first time, priced fairly, and finished properly — or it doesn’t get called finished.
